240 Farmers in total will benefit from the R38 Milj project in Ngaka Modiri Molema District.

The upcoming farmers in the Ngaka Modiri Molema District area will benefit largely from the development programme and will receive subsidies such as seed, fertilizer, chemicals and fuel in order to plant 50ha each. The total coverage of the program is 10 000 hectares of land where they plan on planting both sunflower and maize.

Additionally, 195 farmers will also benefit from another programme called ‘one hectare one household programme’ by the DRDLR (Department of Rural Development and Land Reform). The DRDLR has increased the land size from 1 hectare per household to inbetween 10 -15 hectares per household instead, this is due to the land availability.

Tsholofelo Dintwe stated that the aim of this project is to put agriculture at the pinnacle of economic development in the Province as well as to deal with challenges of inequality, deprivation and unemployment.

Premier of the North West Province, Honourable Supra Obakeng Ramoeletsi Mahumapelo and MEC for Rural, Environment and Agricultural Development (READ), Ms Manketsi Tlhape together with the national DRDLR launched the event on the 19th of October 2016 in Delareyville.
